Very important announcement from Tibetan Community in Britain:
Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Saturday 6th August 2016 from 2 to 4.30pm

20th July 2016

Event: Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM)

Date: Saturday, 6th August 2016

Time: 2 to 4.30pm

Venue: Tibet House, 1 Culworth Street, London NW8 7AF

Dear Tibetan Community members,

We are inviting you to attend TCB’s Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Saturday, 6th August from 2pm to 4.30pm at Tibet House, 1 Culworth Street, London NW8 7AF.

The main object of this EGM is to discuss and save our community from its normal functioning, following the failure to form the next TCB Council.

Why this EGM?

We recently had the largest ever turnout of our members casting votes during the TCB council members’ election on 2nd July for the office term – September 2016 to September 2018. Results of the council election, comprising 15 shortlisted members, were announced within days. With deep regret it was brought to the incumbent Council’s attention that the newly elected members could not form the next TCB Council due to various reasons including personal commitments.

Our attempts to organise face-to-face meetings with the first 7 elected-members again this week (with inputs from Representative Chonpel Tsering la) for a breakthrough has failed as the majority declined to attend.

We wish to state that the incumbent council members stand ready to do the handover to the next TCB council members immediately after our planned final events on 3rd September i.e. AGM & Benefit Party.

It is now very clear that after September this year there will be nobody to take on the leadership and manage the normal TCB affairs.

Given this new reality, it is critically important for the future of our community and that we urge all members to make every effort to contribute to this process by attending this forthcoming EGM, when we will be making vital and lasting community-wide decisions.

With these above reasons we are compelled to call this EGM, giving our members 15 days of notice.

With best wishes,

TCB Council
